Hermit Crab shells Medium natural 5 pack (10-20mm opening)

Give your hermit crabs a safe, handpicked home. Every shell we stock is carefully checked to ensure a smooth interior and no holes, prioritising your pet’s comfort and wellbeing. Our mixed-size packs are perfect for providing your crabs with a selection of shells to choose from—encouraging natural, healthy changing behaviour. This range features shells with openings between 10–20mm, ideal for small to medium hermit crabs.

Choosing the Right Shell Size:

• Measure the opening of your hermit crab’s current shell at its widest point.
• For the next size up, add 3–6mm (around 1/8″–1/4″) to that measurement.
• Offer several sizes, as crabs will pick what suits them best—too tight causes stress, too loose leaves crabs unprotected.

Shell Prep Tips (Before They Go in the Tank):

• Rinse new shells in fresh water.
• Boil them for 5–10 minutes to remove debris and possible contaminants.
• Let shells cool completely before offering them to your hermit crabs.

Helpful Hints:

• The ideal shell should let your crab fully retract inside, but not feel loose.
• Providing multiple shell shapes encourages natural selection and reduces aggression.
• Regularly check for wear—replace shells that become chipped or rough inside.

Our shells are natural (never painted) and carefully selected, ensuring only the highest quality shells are available for your pets.
