Sputnik Urchin Soy Candle – Hand Poured by Simply Shells

Our Sputnik Urchin Candle is made in-house using molds created from our real Sputnik sea urchins. The result is a detailed, eye-catching candle that works beautifully as a decorative piece or a unique coastal gift.

Each candle is hand poured and individually checked before leaving our workshop. Because of the natural shell shape, every piece has its own character while still maintaining a consistent finish.

The candle weighs approximately 80 grams and is designed to burn cleanly and evenly when used correctly.

About the Candle

We use a performance wax blend made primarily from natural soy wax, combined with small amounts of certified palm wax, premium grade paraffin wax, and a plant-based emulsifier. This combination gives a reliable burn, strong structure, and excellent detail in the finished candle.

A high-quality Stabilo wick is used to provide a steady flame and consistent melt pool.

First Burn Tip (Memory Burn)

For best results, light the candle in a draft-free area for about 20 minutes on the first use.
Allow the wax to melt to roughly a 20mm circle around the wick, then extinguish and let it reset.
After that, the candle can be used normally.

The Creative Process

Creating these candles took time. We developed our own molds from real Sputnik urchins and tested different wax blends, wick types, and molding materials over many months.

The final result is a detailed, long-burning candle that you won’t find anywhere else — made exclusively by Simply Shells.

Optional Concrete Base (Sold Separately)

We also make our own concrete bases, designed specifically to suit the Sputnik candle size.

These bases:

• Catch melted wax safely
• Provide a stable, fire-safe surface
• Match the candle style perfectly
• Can be reused for future candles
• Can also be used as a small shell, jewellery, or decor holder

Base Size: 95mm diameter × 20mm height

Each base is made in-house using a durable cement blend, giving it a simple, rustic finish that suits coastal décor.

Important Safety Information

This is a molded, free-standing candle and must be placed on a suitable fireproof surface capable of managing melted wax.

• Do not burn for longer than 3 hours at a time
• Do not move the candle while burning
